Things are ramping up at Regency’s East San Marco development in Jacksonville, FL, with a variety of exciting new merchants recently signed — in addition to Publix and Publix Liquors. From a new, local seafood concept and a hip coffee shop, to a boutique fitness staple and more, read on to learn more about what to expect from historic San Marco’s most anticipated shopping center, which is slated to begin opening later this Fall.
Gemma Fish + OysterThis newly announced fresh seafood concept’s flagship location will open its doors at East San Marco’s prominent two-story corner building in Spring 2023. Owned by husband and wife duo, Mike and Brittany Cooney — who also own Ember & Iron in St. Johns County — the restaurant will offer 6,500 SF of space, with rooftop seating to boot.
While we knew there was a need for an oyster bar in the area, we wanted to make sure Gemma appealed to a variety of tastes, so there will be plenty of options outside of the 6-8 types of oysters we’ll offer daily, including things like steaks and pork chops” said Brittany Cooney, Co-Owner.
According to Cooney, Gemma will be elegantly decorated with a jewel-toned color palette, and feature a 30-seat, private glass-encased dining and event space for community gatherings. Guests can expect more “seasonal and worldly” fares, and less Southern-style fried seafood.
Our experience working with Regency has been better than we could have imagined, and after seeing the renderings for East San Marco, I knew in my heart that we had to open there,” she said.Gemma is slated to open in Spring 2023.
